Who am I? Why am I here?

I am a survey statistician living in Chicago.

I work on a variety of federal contracts that inform daily operations of the U.S. military and evaluate programs for ongoing improvement. For example, the JAMRS Futures Survey informs recruiters on the evolving priorities of American youth. As another, the FVAP Overseas Citizens Population Survey and Active Duty Military Post-Election Voting Surveys evaluate the implementation of UOCAVA and highlight areas for improvement.

I am a computer hobbyist (both software and hardware). I also lack a formal background in statistics. Much of my free time goes into reading or experimentation, usually at the intersection of those two areas.
